Graceful Mind Institute - About

Naturopathic Mental Health Is About All Of You

Your mental health isn't determined by one factor.  Your care shouldn't be either.  The Graceful Mind Institute offers 1:1 care and educational programing provided by a naturopathic physician who is trained in counseling.  We strive to educate and empower as we address the varied factors impacting your mental health.

What does that look like?  Lots of different ways!  From helping you discover and reframe hidden beliefs, to supporting your physiology so your mind and spirit can thrive, we're here for it.

Whether you have a diagnosed mental health condition or just need some support through a transition, we're here.  Dealing with the emotional impact of a chronic health condition?  We can help. Exhausted and just not feeling like yourself?  We can help with that too.  Overwhelmed ?  Neurodivergent and needing a little support?  We're here for all of it.

If you're looking for a partner in building resilience, joy, and calm -   we're here to help you bring more of your brilliant light into the world.

Services

Naturopathic Assessment

Naturopathic assessment looks for the root cause of symptoms and seeks to address them by restoring balance.  In doing so, we gather information from lots of angles. In addition to seeking to understand how you think and relate to yourself and the world, we also do physical exams, and order labs when relevant.  This can help us create a plan of care that will lead to lasting transformative change.  Treatments may include naturopathic counseling, biofeedback, nutritional and lifestyle changes, craniosacral therapy, herbs, vitamins, and homeopathy (among others).

Counseling and Biofeedback

Naturopathic counseling seeks to help you understand and shift mental and emotional patterns to align with your goals.  Frequently we're working to increase a sense resilience, peace, clarity, and connection.  Because we believe the body and mind are not separate, we frequently combine talking with somatic work, which we find often accelerates the process. While this can take many forms, biofeedback is one method of increasing self awareness and resilience within the nervous system.   Many of our clients also appreciate being able to bring their spiritual life directly into the conversation and we find this also speeds the process.  We work with people with a variety of spiritual beliefs and practices and seek to support you in deepening a practice that is meaningful to you.  This aspect of care is never required.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is an incredibly gentle form of manual therapy that seeks to release patterns of tension to allow the body to self heal.  It is typically done on a massage table while fully clothed, though kids can play quietly on the floor during a session rather than laying still.Because the body's tension patterns are constantly in feedback with the brain, releasing old patterns of tension can free us up to make mental and emotional shifts as well.  Many clients note feeling especially calm after a session, but the impact when paired with the rest of our work can have lasting impacts.

Educational and Community Programs

In addition to our 1:1 clinic services, The Graceful Mind Institute offers community programs and educational programs to promote a sense of joy, connection, and empowerment when it comes to your sense of wellbeing.  Dr. Westaway is available to speak or run workshops with your group or team - please inquire if you have an idea!  Calendar of events coming soon.
